I am a freelance web developer, providing web programming services to designers and other businesses.

My skills include hand-coding of standards-compliant XHTML, CSS, PHP, mySQL and JavaScript.

Location

I'm located in Oceanside, California which is in the “North County Coastal” area of San Diego County. Since most of my work is done remotely, my clients can be anywhere. Skills

XHTML, HTML and CSS

I take pride in making sure my code is clean and efficient. I routinely check my code with the W3C markup and CSS validators.

I recently completed a course in Web Standards, which had a heavy empahasis on CSS and standards-compliant XTHML. I am very comfortable creating CSS-based layouts, which results in smaller, faster-loading pages that are more accessible to those with disabilities.

In the future I plan to expand on my JavaScript skills, becoming more involved in using the DOM and other advanced coding.

Project Management

Most of the projects I do for small businesses only require that I manage my own work. Prior to getting involved in web development, however, I spent many years as a manager, both in IT and as a department manager in a financial services company. I have lots of experience in managing projects, setting priorities and communicating with both programmers and “business” people. I can put these skills to work if needed for your project.

Tools

Dreamweaver

I find it convenient to use Dreamweaver, but can also hand-code using a text editor. When working n Dreamweaver, I almost always use “code view”.

Adobe Fireworks

I like using Fireworks for my web graphics, because it has a lot of features geared toward web development. I especially like is ease in slicing up images for web pages.

Adobe PhotoShop CS4

I also use PhotoShop for web graphics. In some cases, I find that PhotoShop provides functionality that Fireworks doesn't.

Future Plans

I continually add to my knowlege and skills, both through taking courses and self-study.
